For the 2013 exhibition "Op het Spoor! 150 jaar met de trein" (On the tracks! 150 years by train) by museum Flehite in Amersfoort I've recreated August 20, 1863. This was de opening day of the train connection between Kampen and Utrecht that came through Amersfoort. On the model there is the very first station in Amersfoort as it was built in 1863 in it's original state. The building still exists today though it's has changed a lot over the years. Also there is a replica of one of the first 12 steam engines that was used by the company that exploited this train connection, the N.C.S. (Nederlandse Centraal Spoorwegmaatschappij) as well as a couple of carriages as they were used by that same company in those days. The model is in scale 1/87. The station is a combination of 3D printed parts, machine cut parts and etched parts. The carriages are all etched brass, as is some of the steam engine, which also contains 3D printed parts. The other buildings and the surroundings are build by hand.
